About the Band
This Photo is from an article that appeared in the Staten Island Advance on
Sept. 1, 1967. It was taken at the Great Kills railroad station. The members
were Artie Petersen, Frank Byrne, Donny Kehoe, Donnie Yagos, Louie
DeCillis, and Richie Herbert.

Growing up in the sixties on Staten island was a rewarding
experience musically. Everywhere on the South Shore there
were rock bands. The Betterman, Mack Truck, The Coming
Attractions, The Deltrons, The Herd, and Clan Boswell , just to
name a few. Weekends were spent attending high school
dances or later on at the Stadium in Tottenville.
Upon graduating junior high school all I wanted to do was
play guitar in a rock band. Our first band was composed of a
drummer with shoe boxes for drums, and two guitar players.
How embarrising was that. Finally in high school I met Don
Yagos, Don Kehoe, Frank Byrne, Billy Coronato, and Artie
Petersen . We called ourselves The Sounds Uncertain and our
first gig was in front of Wil-John's Service Station on Hylan
Blvd.
Eventually Billy was replaced by Louie DeCillis on drums and
we began playing quite often all around the Island.
New Dorp High School, Msg. Farrell, Tottenville High School,
St. Joesph by the Sea, etc. When Louie graduated and was off
to cooking school we needed a drummer and thus Nicky came
on board. From 1966 to 1970 there were 10 different
members of the band but no more than six at one time. The
band stayed like this until , as all bands do, we broke up.
There were more important things happening now
(college, girls etc.) Some of us continued to play with other
people and other bands and so we continued exploring music.
Over the years we lost touch with each other. Don Kehoe and
myself have always stayed close, but Frank relocated to
Michagan. Louie moved to somewhere near Detroit and Artie
finally ended up in Penn. Don Yagos now lives in New Jersey
but lost touch with us for quite some time.
Due to health issues our drummer, Nicky has been forced
to leave the band. We would like to welcome Ray Casertano
to our group and hope that 2012 will be a busy one for us.
In late 2005 Frank was back on the Island, sadly,
for a funeral. He suggested we get together at a later
date and I agreed to call everyone when he returned
in Feb. 2006. To my surprise everyone attended.
We decided to meet at the Old Bermuda Inn for a
reunion dinner and Louie called saying he wanted to
have a jam session with everyone.
The rest is history, as they say. We now practice
often. Our set list is growing rapidly and it's like we
never fell apart. Frank comes back once in a while
and sits in with us. He plays in a band back home.
Louie stays in touch with us. He has bought a new
drum set and is playing diligently.

We would like to thank Frank Rizzo for
lending his hard work and talent to the cause

Does anyone know where this was taken???
